Mom in Hawaii with Grandaughter in 2012
Born in McCall, Idaho.
On Tuesday evening January 15th 2013, Chris left the physical world to continue her pursuit of joy on the next steps of her life journey.
She departed leaving many that she loved very dearly, and those that loved her even more. After being raised with her family in Idaho by her grandmother Lenora Butts while her father worked for mining and lumber companies as a pipefitter.
She moved to Alaska lived and worked throughout the state, including Anchorage, Fairbanks, Valdez, Juneau and Sitka, providing for her family.
She began working for the State of Alaska in 1973, performing in many capacities, she finally rose to the rank of Director, in the Department of Administration in 2000, without ever completing high school, as if that would hold Chris down, education for Chris was a byproduct of hard work and an increasing desire to be the best she could be, no matter what the assignment was.
Chris officially retired from public service in 2003. She continued operating several businesses along her journey, including tanning salons, health & fitness centers and even a fishing/sightseeing charter business.
In 1984, Chris met her present husband and the love of her life, Al Parce. They became soul mates almost immediately, building a life for each other that included all of their respective family members. One of the many positive outcomes of Chris’s union with Al was to eliminate Chris’s fear of the open-water; with his nurturing she soon came to love it. Chris and Al even went as far as buying an island in Sitka and provided fishing and sightseeing charters off of their boat X-ta-sea in Juneau.
During one of her many stages of retirement Chris traded the sea for the open road, traveling throughout the lower 48, in a beautiful RV, decked to the nines, traveling from the west coast to the east coast and back up to Alaska on several occasions. Chris and Al moved to Kauai, HI in August 2012 where they were enjoying the weather, beaches, family and an abundance of new friends.
Chris brightened faces wherever she went, made long lasting friendships based on her warm personality and lack of fear to be out on the edge. She always lived life on the edge, taking on any challenge with enthusiasm. She will truly be missed by many.
